What would I like to have accomplished this time next year?
I think it’s time for me to review my New Year’s Resolutions and my Bucket List.
My 2017 Resolutions:
1 – Be grateful for the things I have. Things such as a roof overhead, clothes on my back, and food in my belly. Countless people aren’t so fortunate.
2 – Finish my novel.
3 – Remember the first two resolutions every day.
Altea Addison’s Bucket List
1 – Escape to the country.
2 – Visit the Maldives.
How am I doing with my resolutions? To be honest, some days, I struggle with the first one. Having said this, I do make a point of reminding myself to appreciate the things I have when I wake up in the morning and before I go to bed at night. As for the second one, I’m at the halfway mark. My target word count for my novel is 75 to 80 thousand words. I currently have 40 thousand.
What about my bucket list? Well, I am a dreamer. However, in reality, I don’t think I’ll be able to tick my first (and presently only) two items off my Bucket List by this time next year.
So what is my goal? By this time next year, I want to be halfway through my second novel. This is a realistic and achievable target. Norman Vincent Peale said, “There is a real magic in enthusiasm. It spells the difference between mediocrity and accomplishment.” I’m nothing if not enthusiastic about and dedicated to my writing goals.
